چکیده
Abstract When specimens of different sands are produced using the same preparation method and sheared under conditions (consolidation stress, loading, etc.), while simultaneously keeping drainage closed, resulting tendencies these regarding PWP build-up will be different. This research paper presents a simplified cyclic shear test, which is used to evaluate accumulation in defined specimen procedure testing conditions. In proposed experiment, comparison with this respect easily achieved. The principle experimental based on evolution during shearing water-saturated sand sample. Undrained experiment allow for PWP, quantified by rate build-up. duration single including preparation, approximately 30 min. evaluation densities resulted an exponential dependence variation relative density. results confirmed higher generation fine compared coarse sand. A undrained triaxial tests case eight demonstrated good agreement between both methods. basis was density-dependent presented delivers value (index) that quantifies

Pore Pressure and Viscous Shear Stress Distribution Due to Water Flow within Asphalt Pore Structure
There has been a concentrated effort in modeling fluid flow in asphalt pavements, and most of the existing work has been limited to evaluation of directional permeabilities. The effects of other phenomena, such as development of flow-induced pore pressure and viscous shear stress distributions at the pore–solid interfaces, on moisture damage in an asphalt pore structure have not been fully unde...
متن کاملA Strain Range Dependent Cyclic Plasticity Model
Hysteresis loop curves are highly important for numerical simulations of materials deformation under cyclic loadings. The models mainly take account of only the tensile half of the stabilized cycle in hysteresis loop for identification of the constants which don’t vary with accumulation of plastic strain and strain range of the hysteresis loop. This approach may be quite erroneous particularly ...
متن کاملEstimation of pore water pressure in the body of earth dams during construction with intelligent models
One of the basic measures in managing the stability of earth dams is to accurately estimate the amount of pore water pressure in the body of the dam during and after its construction. In this study, three different models of artificial neural network (ANN), adaptive neural-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) and gene expression programming (GEP) to estimate the pore water pressure in the body of Kab...
متن کاملA Simplified Model Describing the Cyclic Behavior of Lightly Overconsolidated Clays in Simple Shear
The geological profile of submerged slopes of the continental shelf typically consists of normally to lightly overconsolidated clays with depths ranging from a few meters to a few hundred meters and very low slope angles. The stability of these slopes is often investigated with pseudo-static methods by reducing the dynamic loading to an equivalent inertial force. The simplifications are such th...
متن کاملTreatment of expansive soils with quality saline pore water by cyclic drying and wetting
Expansive soils can be found in many parts of the world particularly in arid and semi-arid regions. These soilspose a significant hazard to civil engineering structures due to its high swelling and shrinkage potential. This paperpresents the results of an experimental program developed to investigate the effect of cyclic drying and wetting on theswelling potential of expansive soils with variou...
